Service Specifications

Applying for Service

Please call Northeast Oklahoma Electric Cooperative, Inc. at 1-800-256-6405 to begin the new service process.  One of our friendly Member Service Representatives will walk you through necessary application processes and send a service order to Engineering.

An Engineering Fieldman will initiate contact with you and set up an appointment to review the new establishment and design distribution facilities necessary to adequately serve the new load.  Details such as right-of-way clearing, easements, contribution in aid of construction, and service requirements will be worked out at this time.

Once designed, your new service request will be sent to construction for completion.  Northeast Oklahoma Electric Cooperative, Inc. strives to meet the member’s needs in a timely fashion.  Construction time will vary based on current work load, weather conditions, and other factors.

Please remember to CALL OKIE at 1-800-522-OKIE prior to performing any excavation to have all underground facilities located.

All facilities constructed are required to meet applicable rules of the latest revision of the National Electric Code and the National Electric Safety Code as well as any federal, state, and local rules and regulations.  Northeast Oklahoma Electric Cooperative, Inc. reserves the right to require necessary inspections and documentation as needed.

Residential Line Extensions

Northeast Oklahoma Electric Cooperative, Inc. provides a standard line extension of up to 600’ for a residential service.  A residential service is defined as a new home, modular home, or double-wide mobile home that is affixed to a permanent foundation.

Before service will be built, a footing must be started, a potable water system must be in place, and a sanitary septic system must be installed.  Until these conditions are met, service will not be constructed.

The standard line extension is either overhead or underground and the same footage applies to both.  If a member desires an underground extension, they will be responsible for installing conduit with a pull string to cooperative specifications.  Specifications can be provided by the Engineering Fieldman.  The underground cable must be installed at a depth of 48” for safety reasons.

Additional footages beyond the standard line extension will be subject to a contribution in aid of construction payment.  This amount will be determined by the Engineering Fieldman once a workable route has been selected and measurements have been made.  All costs involved with constructing a service must be paid prior to construction of facilities.

As part of the standard line extension, Northeast Oklahoma Electric Cooperative, Inc. will also provide and install a meter loop or pedestal and meter with capacities of 200 amps and 320 amps available.  Services requiring capacity greater than 320 amps will need to be instrument rated and NEOEC will provide appropriately sized CT’s and metering.

Commercial Line Extensions

New commercial installations will be provided a standard line extension of up to 600’ of single phase service or up to 200’ of three phase service.  Line extensions for commercial purposes will be either overhead or underground.  Underground extensions will require the prospective member to provide trenching to 48” and installation of conduit with a pull string to cooperative specifications provided.

Additional footages beyond the standard line extension will be subject to a contribution in aid of construction payment.  This amount will be determined by the Engineering Fieldman once a workable route has been selected and measurements have been made.  All costs involved with constructing a service must be paid prior to construction of facilities.

Northeast Oklahoma Electric Cooperative, Inc. will provide the necessary metering provisions based on the size of the load.  Multi-tenant meter bases will be the responsibility of the builder to provide.  All prospective members will be required to provide a detailed load calculation performed by an Oklahoma licensed electrical contractor in order to determine proper rate class and adequately determine proper transformer and meter sizing.

Temporary Service

Temporary service can be provided.  The requesting party will be responsible for the full cost of installing and removing the service less salvage value.
